WITH about two years to the 2019 general election, the Oyo State chairman of the Action Alliance (AA), Alhaji Obafemi Seriki, has called on Nigerians to use the current economic hardship as a gauge to measure which of the political parties to invest their votes on come 2019.
Alhaji Seriki stated this while speaking at the party’s state congress held at the secretariat of the party at the Providence Court, Mokola, Ibadan, at the weekend.
Alhaji Seriki noted that Nigerians need not to be told that both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and its predecessor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which ruled the country for 16 solid years had failed the nation.
He maintained that the current hardship was not what Nigerians voted for in 2015, which had disappointed the people.
“The ineptitude displayed so far by APC and calls for a trial of another party as well as individuals come 2019,” he said.
He thanked the party members for the confidence reposed in the new team, asking them to put behind the ugly incident of the past which led to the factionalisation of the party and be ready to work hard ahead of the 2019 general elections
Elected alongside the chairman to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years are Shola Olalekan, Samson Ajala, Ojediran Rotimi, Ajibola Muyideen, Alhaja Bola Danko as Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Organising Secretary, Youth Leader and Women Leader respectively.
Among other elected officials are Emmanuel Olumide, Yeye Ejalonibu, Samuel Obaro, Bolarinwa Lawal, Yemi Kolajo, Stephen Kehinde and Gbenga Olaniyi as Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Publicity Secretary, Legal Adviser, Welfare Secretary, Auditor and Financial Secretary.
