2019: Ogun West elders adopt Akinlade as APC consensus governorship candidate

A group of people under the aegis of Ogun West Senatorial District of Ogun State, has adopted Hon. Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, as the consensus governorship candidate of All Progressives Party (APC), for the 2019 election in the state.

Akinlade, a current serving member of the House of Representatives representing Renado said South/Ipokia was picked by the body in the early hours of Thursday, following a marathon meeting, held at the residence of the late former Secretary to the State Government, Deacon Poju Adeyemi.

The choice of Akinlade was announced by the chairman of the Elders Council, Alhaji Ajibola Olagbaye, in a meeting attended by the State party executives of APC, aspirants and other stakeholders.

Tribune Online recalled that all the governorship aspirants from Ogun West Senatorial District, had some days back, signed a peace pact promising to abide by the decision of the elders from the zone.

While the state Governor Ibikunle Amosun, on Wednesday, informed party members that the APC flagbearer would be announced today (Thursday).

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, according to the statement obtained by Tribune Online, commended the leadership of the party in the senatorial district for a job well done.

He, therefore, congratulated the consensus candidate, a taxation expert, and promised the support of other aspirants in ensuring his victory at the polls.

Another stakeholder, the Ajiroba of Imasayi, Chief Dapo Oke, commended all the aspirants for being part of history and appreciated the elders for the choice of Akinlade.

Responding, Akinlade thanked the elders and other aspirants, saying it is a project and vision for all, assuring party faithful that he would operate an all inclusive government.
