2019: Lagos lawmaker, Osinowo, meets, seeks APC leaders’ support for senatorial bid

AHEAD of primaries of All Progressives Congress (APC), in October, a senatorial aspirant on the party platform, Hon. Bayo Osinowo, has commenced a “coast-to-coast” consultations with stakeholders and opinion leaders in the area, meeting with Alhaji Busura Alebiosu, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council and an APC senatorial leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki.

The senatorial aspirant also visited the Magodo home of another leader in the district, Senator Anthony Adefuye.

Osinowo, who is popularly known and addressed as ‘Pepper’ and is currently serving his fourth term as member, Lagos State House of Assembly, is seeking to represent Lagos East Senatorial District in the Senate, the seat currently occupied by Senator Gbenga Ashafa.

The APC aspirant, who was accompanied on the trip by some serving and past government officials, top party leaders and hundreds of supporters, said the visits would enable him to seek advice from major stakeholders, in and outside the APC, which could be pivotal to winning the primaries and also cementing a long-term relationship with his constituents.

Alhaji Alebiosu described the visit as “timely and pivotal,” even as he offered prayers for the success of Osinowo’s senatorial bid in the coming APC primary scheduled for October.

On his part, Alhaji Seriki eulogized the aspirant for his stabilizing role in the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing him as a seasoned and committed politician who could pursue the interest of Lagos with vigour in the National Assembly.

Speaking to journalists at end of the visits, the Osinowo asserted that the consultations had imbued him with some fresh ideas that would enhance the provision of effective, visionary and purposeful leadership when he resumed as a senator.

He, therefore, called on the good people of the district to remain supportive of his candidacy, promising to raise the bar of representation beyond the expectations of all and sundry.
