2019: Lagos APC working tirelessly to return Ambode with 5m votes ―Igbokwe

LAGOS State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the campaign for Permanent Voter Cards’ (PVCs) collection is meant to prove a political point that Lagos is densely populated and also the political hub of the party, declaring that the party was working tirelessly to ensure nothing would change the five million votes targeted for the state governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, in the coming 2019 election.

Spokesman of the party in the state, Mr Joe Igbokwe, made this declaration at the launch of House to House Campaign Teams to intensify awareness campaign of the need for Lagos residents to participate in ongoing voter registration exercise and collect their PVCs ahead of 2019 General Elections to enable them to vote in the exercise.

The launch was already carried out in two separate local government areas of the state, including Amuwo Odofin and Surulere by a group operating under the aegis of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard (IIEV) and comprising of social activists, many Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), market men and women, artisans, among others.

Igbokwe said this was so because, apart from the performance of the governor in improving the infrastructure of the city, his handling of the state’s economy was another major reason why Lagosians must support and mobilize for more votes for him in the coming election.

The APC chieftain assured that Ambode would further transform the state to a mega city if given another chance.

“In recognition of his hard work, we are going to come out in millions to support him once again through voting.

Under his leadership, we have seen physical development across Lagos,” Igbokwe said.

Speaking earlier, Coordinator General of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, Mr Seyi Bamigbade, said the House to House Campaign Teams launched by his group in Amuwo Odofin and Surulere Local Government areas respectively were constituted to intensify awareness campaign among residents of Lagos on the need to participate in ongoing voters registration exercise and collect their PVCs.

Bamigbade, while speaking on the need to vote Governor Ambode back into for a second term, said the opposition in the state had agreed that the governor had delivered on his election promises, recalling that Ambode promised to make Lagos work for everyone and had done that for all to see.

Earlier, the Apex Chairman of the group, Hon. Segun Olulade, who is also Chairman, Committee on Health, Lagos State House of Assembly, urged Lagosians to obtain their PVCs ahead of the 2019 General Elections.
