2019: Kashamu faction didn’t participate in party primaries ― Adebutu

Published by
THE factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Hon Oladipupo Adebutu said that the Senator Buruji Kashamu faction did not participate in a legitimate primary conducted by the leadership of the party.

Adebutu who featured in a live telecast programme said he won’t be deterred by the desperation of some enemies of the party to hoodwink him in abandoning the governorship ticket which he legitimately won during the last party primary in the state.

The lawmaker in a statement issued by the Special Adviser, Media, Ladi Adebutu Campaign Organisation, Dayo Rufai, added that Kashamu through his purported State Exco led by Engr Bayo Dayo would all work in vain as their antics would soon lead them to political oblivion.

It could be recalled that Sen Buruji Kashamu led a faction of the party recently headed for the court in an attempt to arm-twist the judiciary into buying legitimacy for its charade called party primary in the state.
“I’m a member of the PDP constitutionally recognised even by the Supreme court of the land and backed the National Secretariat of the party. The people now fighting desperately to upturn the wishes of the people deliberately refused to participate in the primary, how then could they emerge in a process they didn’t participate in? Adebutu asked.
Adebutu also disclosed that the national secretariat of the party was clear enough on the acceptability and legitimacy of any primary conducted in lines with its rules and regulation.
He said, “The constitution of our great says only the primary conducted and supervised by its officials would be accepted.
“You don’t ‘dash’ people political positions in a democratic process, it must be keenly contested for which informed why former Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel rejected the senatorial position given to him by Buruji Kashamu and his co-travellers.
“All these litigations here and there orchestrated by Buruji Kashamu and his cohorts are only sided attractions and delay tactics. We will soon start our campaign in a grand-style.
“I’m not going to leave the party we all laboured to build. Forget the insinuations about names in those fictitious lists. We will campaign vigorously to make our Presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar wins in a landslide victory as well as all candidates on our party platform.”
