THERE was jubilation in Enugu on Tuesday following the nullification of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Ayogu Eze, for the 2019 gubernatorial election by an Abuja High Court.
It was observed that shortly the news of the court declaration that Mr George Ogara is the authentic candidate of APC filtered into the ears of Enugu residents, many of them joined supporters of Ogara camp to celebrate the legal victory.
At major drinking joints and hotels as well as recreational centres in the Coal City, scores of youths were seen celebrating the return of Ogara to the governorship race with assorted soft drinks and beer.
Some of the residents interviewed agreed with the Court ruling, insisting that the election which produced Ayogu which was said to have held in a hotel contrary to APC constitution.

“We are happy that the Abuja High Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish George Ogara as the authentic candidate of APC for the forthcoming governorship election,” Anthony Ogboka said.
“That the Federal High court dismissed the election which produced Ayogu Eze on the basis that he held the party’s primary in a hotel is a vindication of Ogara’a contention that what he (Ayogu Eze) did was an aberration to democratic principles,” he added.
However, a strong member of the Senator Guber Project who would not want his name in print warned that it is not yet Uhuru for Ogara as his principal cannot fold his hands.
He suggested that an appeal and probably a stay of execution could be filed immediately expressing confidence that it is not yet over for Eze.
