AHEAD 2019 general elections, the candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) for Osun Central Senatorial District, Mr Olubiyi Fadeyi on Friday described as untrue and misleading speculation that he had dropped his ambition.
He also maintained that he had no plan to support a candidate of any other political party under the platform of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).
These were contained in a press statement signed by the director of media and publicity of his campaign organisation, Mr Abayomi Adegoke, which was forwarded to Saturday Tribune in Osogbo.
According to the statement, “we would not have responded to this speculation going round in a section of the media, we need to douse the tension among our teeming supporters and loyalists by correcting the impression of dropping our senatorial ambition and to put the record straight.”

“While we would not take any action that may be inimical to the positive steps of our leaders towards ensuring the workability of the ongoing coalition among the opposition political parties ahead of 2019 general elections in Nigeria, It is our belief that the ongoing discussions and arrangement must be concluded before any Party’s Senatorial Candidate could make any statement as a unanimously adopted candidate of the coalition.”
Although, on Friday, 14th of December, 2018, a meeting of Odo-Otin, Ifelodun and Boripe Federal constituency under the banner of CUPP was held in Iragbiji, the headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State with the Senatorial candidates of various political parties under the Coalition in attendance but we are yet to conclude the arrangement of endorsing any particular Senatorial candidate for the February 2019 National Assembly election.”
“Meeting of all the opposition candidate in the Senatorial district should not be termed as the adoption of one party’s candidate. We want to use this medium to call on our teeming supporters and the members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across the 10 Local the government in the Osun Central Senatorial District to remain calm as we will be updating them as events unfold.”
