The also called on the All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State chapter, to which the governor belongs, to re-nominate the incumbent as its gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 election, saying this was to enable Ambode continue his good works in the state.
Chairman of AACG, Alhaji Moruf Soremekun, made the call at the weekend during the 4th Anniversary Lecture, Awards and Investiture Ceremony of the group which took place at Agege, Lagos state.
According to him, the dynamic administration of Governor Ambode has without any doubt brought about unprecedented progress to all and sundry, adding that it had made remarkable progress in all its six cardinal policies, including security, health, food sufficiency, massive infrastructure, employment opportunity and Internally- Generated Revenue (IGR).
He said out of all 36 states, Lagos had been acknowledged widely for its sound and robust economy since May 29, 2015.
Soremekun, who said the governor had surpassed the expectations in the provision for the welfare of the people irrespective of their creed, religion, ethnic background political differences among others.
He said the governor had also addressed the socio-economic development of the state, stressing that it was now clear that it was not how long but how well one was able to govern a state that mattered.
He contended that Governor Ambode had within the short period set a new record in governance, assuring that no effort would be spared in ensuring that the second term was achieved for him.
“Therefore, it is now clear that it is not how long but how well. Within the short period of governance, he has set new record for everyone present that no effort will be spared in ensuring that the second term of our indefatigable Governor is assured,” he said.
Also, the Coordinator-General of the group, Chief Akintunde Ambode, in his own remark said: “We have been supporting the governor in his political career since 2013 and we also as members of APC are calling Governor Ambode to seek for second term in office.
“His goods works in Lagos State must continue and we are calling on him to listen to our call because it is a call to service.
“We are also calling on the APC in the state to re-nominate Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for a second term in office. He has performed excellently well and his performance has been seen and noticed by the people of the state and as such they will want him to be in charge again in 2019 so as to continue this good works he has embarked upon.
“We are also calling on the people of the state to vote for him for a second term in office. He deserves another term. A performer deserves one more time in office.”
A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Olusegun Olulade, representing Epe Constituency 2, in his six page lecture, titled, ‘Redefining Governance: The Ambode Model,’ said Governor Ambode had re-defined governance to become a model for all others across the country.
He stressed that globally, the world had shifted from conventional governance, arguing that new ideas must be injected into an existing system to really make a significant change.
