2019: Group backs Ondo Commissioner for House of Representatives

AHEAD of the 2019 general elections, a political pressure group in Ondo State, Ilaje Justice Coalition (IJC) has thrown its support for the aspirations of the State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Mr Donald Ojogo,  for the House of Representatives seat to represent Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC)

The group stated this while addressing newsmen in Akure, Ondo state capital, that the endorsement of Ojogo became imperative because of experience saying it would be of immense benefit to his constituency.

Speaking during the Press Conference, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Tope Olowofoyekun expressed optimism that Ojogo’s membership of the National Assembly would ensure dividend of democracy for the people of the coastal region of the state

The group’s head equally appealed to the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu to consider the ‘Ojogo option’ as he remains a candidate to beat in any election, saying the aspirants deserved more than their support.

“We are urging Hon Donald Ojogo, our honourable Commissioner for Lands and Housing to consider running for the House of Reps seat for Ilaje Ese-Odo Federal Constituency.

“We have observed with keen interest, the dynamics of the race as it has attracted numerous aspirants. While conceding to all such aspirants their right to aspire, including the House of Representatives seat, it has become very timely that we give our support to one of own.

“Ilaje Justice Coalition is of the opinion that Apois having done eight years between 2007 and 2011 and Ilaje on the verge of completing their eight years from 2011 till date, it is only natural that the Arogbo axis of the Federal constituency produces the next occupier of the seat. Justice and fairness are our watchwords.

“It is only when we have this clear understanding and sense of justice that there can be a better society devoid of needless suspicion and marginalisation. This indeed is a new approach to our age-long desire of unity and love in the federal constituency”, he said.

The Commissioner for Housing is expected to resign his membership of the State Executive Council today sequel to a circular from the governor which directed all aspiring political appointees to quit, latest today.

Meanwhile, a socio-cultural and political pressure group, the Akoko Conscience Group (ACG) on Sunday, endorsed a Senatorial aspirant for the Ondo Senatorial district, on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Foluso Adefemi

Briefing newsmen in Akungba Akoko, the Coordinator of the group, Victor Ajayi, said the forum which comprises of over 15 social and cultural groups, decided to throw their support for Adefemi because of his developmental and educational agenda for the youth and people of the area.

According to him, the aspirant has the experience, exposure and acceptability to win the election, saying the group would soon meet with other stakeholders from the area to negotiate with other other aspirants from the district.

He said Adefemi has gone through different stages of leadership and this makes him stand out among many other aspirants who have indicated interest to vie for the Ondo North senatorial seat.

The group described Foluso as being compassionate to the plight of the youths through his annual scholarship and bursary awards to the indigent students without discrimination.

“This is a man with good intentions as displayed in both his social and political activities which today attracted youths from diverse background across all the communities in the four local government areas that made up Akokoland to be clamouring for him,” the group said

Ajayi said “after assessing all the aspirants for the seat, Adefemi remains the best choice for APC in the area. Without any iota of doubt and his relationship with the people of Akokoland, his philanthropist gesture and the love for the people of the area.

“His antecedents, achievements in politics and in corporate sectors, impactful contributions towards the development of Akokoland were the unparalleled indices that kept Foluso ahead of other aspirants.

“He has proven to be upright and capable to served his people as a man of noble character. We are sure he will provide good and quality representation and will deliver all his electoral  promises”
