2019: Ex-Enugu Governor, Nnamani, picks PDP senatorial form

Published by
FORMER Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani has picked nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for Enugu East senatorial seat in 2019.
It was learnt that different camps of senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants in the zone have reportedly been put on edge since he entered the race.
Further checks showed that Senator Nnamani’s latest political move is a total disappointment to the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) who had planned to use the founder of Ebeano political platform to make an inroad in the state.
Confirming the story, a former commissioner during Nnamani’s reign as governor, Chief Ray Nnaji said, “it is not only that Senator Nnamani has picked PDP nomination form, he has also completed the form and it will be submitted before the deadline.
Nnaji described Chimaroke’s entry into the race as the best thing that has happened to the PDP in Enugu state, “it is also the best thing that has happened to our governor.
“You know I have spoken about this before when the rumour was strong that he was about joining the APC. How could he when the man who hates him from Adam, or who does not like his existence, former governor Sullivan Chime is there and has actually taken possession? So it’s not going to be possible. If he had the intention of joining APC, Sullivan’s presence will stop him.
“The APC were the first people that went to town with the news that Chimaroke had picked APC form for Senate but I knew that Chimaroke will not make that second mistake.
“He has made the first costly mistake by picking Sullivan as governor which actually hurt him; he can’t make the mistake again by entering where the same person who had wanted to destroy him is. It would have been another suicidal decision if he had gone there. So it’s better he comes to PDP where he belongs from day one…and it’s because of Sullivan that he left the PDP to form his own party PDC”
Nnaji, however, confirmed that the former governor is not yet in town disclosing that the form was picked by his aides based on his instructions.
Dr. Nnamani who had represented his Enugu East senatorial zone in 2007-2011 lost to the incumbent, Senator Gilbert Nnaji of the PDP at the Election Appeal Court under the People for Democratic Change (PDC)
