2019: Emir of Bauchi advice politicians to embrace peace

POLITICIANS in Bauchi State have been advised to ensure that they preached peace before and during the 2019 election airing campaign across the state in order to have peaceful conduct of the general elections.

The advice was given by the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, when he received the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Bala Muhammad in his palace ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The Emir who is the Chairman of the Bauchi State Council of Traditional Rulers maintained that peace is paramount for national development hence the need to sustain all efforts in making sure that the conduct of the 2019 general elections will be a successful one in all ramifications.

He also admonished politicians with their supporters to eschew violence in the interest of the state and the country in general just as he appealed to security agencies to continue to safeguard lives and properties of the citizenry, especially during politickings and the general elections proper.

While speaking, the governorship candidate of PDP, Senator Bala Mohammed, who is the Kauran Bauchi reiterated his determination to go by the recent signing of a peace accord in order to maintain peace and stability.

The candidate, however, declared that injustice is the root of conflict but affirmed that on his part he and his supporters will maintain peace in the forthcoming elections, in order for democracy to thrive in the state.

Bala Muhammad also urged the traditional rulers to use their God-given powers and influence to appeal to their subjects to go and collect their PVCs which will enable them to vote for their candidates of choice during the elections.
