2019 elections’ll be bloody if —Primate Ositelu

Only free and fair election on 2019 can avert dire consequences for Nigeria unity, Dr Rufus Ositelu has said, it could turn out so bloody that it could lead to the breaking of Nigeria into pieces.

He gave the warning on, August 22, 2018 at the 82nd Tabieorar festival at Ogere-Remo, Ogun State.

To prevent such occurrence, however, the Aladura patriarch and Primate, The Church of the Lord Prayer Fellowship Worldwide (TCLPFW) urged all Nigerians to be prayerful.

Primate Ositelu emphasised the need for free and fair elections in 2019, which is a pivotal for peace and stability, socio-economic development of the country.

According to him, the elections “may well determine the future of our nascent democracy. Declaration of false results or rigging should be avoided at all cost,” he warned.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to emulate its former chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, in executing its cardinal role well.

He also asked Nigerians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote credible men of integrity and God-fearing leaders into offices.

He urged Nigerians to speak out against killings, while urging the government to intensify efforts at curbing the dastardly acts of Boko Haram members and Fulani herdsmen.

In his sermon entitled Faithful God, in line with this year’s theme for Tabieorar celebration, Ositelu reminded the congregation that God was faithful to His name and true to His word.

He noted also that God is dependable and absolutely trustworthy, even as he quoted from the Bible thus – Deuteronomy 7:9 & 32:4; Matthew 24:35 and Isaiah 55:11.

Meanwhile, the deputy General Secretary, All African Conference of Churches (AACC), Dr Bright Mawudor, described women as the hope and future of Africa.

Commenting on the empowerment programme held by Spiritual Mother Superior Mary Ositelu (JP) for women on Tuesday, August 21st at Ogere-Remo, Dr Mawudor promised that AACC would partner with TCLPFW in the area of women empowerment.
