The electoral victory of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got a boost in Bauchi with the defections of not fewer than 10,000 supporters of the ruling APC and other political parties in the state into the party.
The APC supporters and members of other political parties led by the former Deputy Governor of the state, Sagir Aminu Saleh formally defected to the PDP during the presidential campaign flag off of the party held on Tuesday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Stadium in Bauchi.
While announcing their defection into the PDP, the defectors publicly burnt heaps of brooms declaring that they did not gain anything positive while in the APC fold pointing out that rather than gain they lost their precious time and resources for the APC.

Zonal PDP presidential campaign Coordinator who is the Governor of Gombe state, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo received the decampees into the PDP fold and assured them of vital roles in the party in its determination to win the general elections.
Also, the gubernatorial campaign Director General in Bauchi state, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi said that all the decampees are important to the PDP at this moment of campaign assuring them that they will be carried along in the scheme of things.
State Chairman of the PDP, Hamza Koshe Akuyam expressed optimism that the PDP will win all the elections in the state because according to him the electorates in the state are disappointed and disenchanted by the poor performance of the APC in the state.
