The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is to field a Presidential candidate in the 2019 General Elections.
This was a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the political party during its meeting held on Friday at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
At the meeting held at the instance of Governor Willie Obiano who is the National Leader and BoT Chairman of the Party, the Board members deliberated on the future of the party vis-a-vis, the upcoming general election and the options facing the party.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi revealed that after due considerations, the Party has resolved to zone the Presidential ticket to the North while the Vice Presidential Candidate will come from the SouthEast.
Alhaji Shinkafi who noted that the other major political parties have failed the nation over the years they have been at the helm of affairs said APGA founded on sound political principles and values, presents a viable solution to the sociopolitical problems the nation is presently facing.
He emphasized that the party is not contesting the Presidential election for formality sake but will be fielding qualified candidates to fly its flag and will also evolve strategies that will enable her to achieve the ambition of forming a central government in 2019.
It will be recalled that APGA last fielded a candidate for Presidential election in 2003 and 2007, when the founder of the Party and the late Biafran Warlord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu flew the party’s flag.
