2019: APC embarks on ‘Operation show-your-PVC in Anambra

PVC

HENCEFORTH, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Aguata Local government Area of Anambra state are to show their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs to the party executive through their various council wards levels, as a condition for recognising those who they would regard as genuine members of the party in the area.

The party in the area has also opened a register to admit new members as a mop-up exercise for more membership in the forthcoming general elections in 2019.

Chairman of Aguata Local Government Chapter of APC, Paul-Chuks Umenduka who disclosed this yesterday at Ekwulobia, when a prominent member of the party, Hon. Oliver-Chux Ezeobi declared his intention to contest the seat of Aguata federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said at the end of the exercise, any member of the party in the area who does not have his or her PVC might not be regarded as a genuine member of the party.

Flanked by the chairman of APC Ward I, Ekwulobia, Nwosu Emmanuel Nwachukwu; his Ward 2 counterpart, Sunday Nnopu; the Secretary of Aguata Local Government chapter of APC, Hon. Nerius Ifeakor and an APC stakeholder in the state, Umenduka insisted that the party in the area would nominate and support someone who can take care of the peoples’ needs.

He regretted that the electorate in Aguata federal constituency were yet to see anything tangible thing from their past representatives, including the incumbent one, Mrs. Eucharia Azodo who is a blood sister to Chief Chris and Dr. Andy Uba, adding, “our goal is to give our people someone who can provide their needs from the national and state assemblies”.

Declaring his intention to contest the national assembly seat in 2019, Oliver-Chux Ezeobi, a pharmacist and President of Ekwueme’s Oko Sports Club, said his decision to declare for the seat was informed by the fact that there is a gap between the representatives and the electorate.

Ezeobi contended that the gap has led to a total absence of democratic dividends for the constituency, hence his decision to come in to build and restore the bridge between the constituency and the federal government.

According to the contestant, “the new chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole has restored hope and trust of the party men and women by insisting on strong internal democracy within the party. To me, this is the surest way for APC to expand and retain power across the three tiers of government in the country”.

“It is only a political party that holds these things sacrosanct and be capable of taking Nigeria to the next level like the APC is doing that people will always like to identify with and lend their support to”, said Ezeobi.

Other stakeholders who spoke about Ezeobi’s character, described him as a virgin in political circle who is not yet polluted and corrupted, adding that as an articulated leader and a trustworthy person, the House of Representatives seat for Aguata federal constituency is the turn of Aguata North and Ezeobi has been found to be a round peg in a round hole.
