2019: ADP zones President, VP to North, South-East

Newly registered Action Democratic Party (ADP) said on Sunday that it has zoned the 2019 presidential  and Vice Presidential slot to the North and South East respectively.

The party, which rose from a meeting of its National Working Committee (NWC)  chaired by the a National Chairman, Engineer Yabagi Sani said that the two zones would produce the contestants for the nation’s
number one and number two seats in 2019.

A statement by Sani also indicated that the party’s  Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) Chief Alani Bankole was also present at the meeting which further decided that the seat of Senate President will go to the North while the Speaker will go to either the South West or South South.

The statement read in part: “The Action Democratic Party (ADP) held its first meeting at the National Secretariat of the Party in Abuja on the 13th of July, 2017.

“After exhaustive deliberations on contemporary political, social and economic matters affecting the country and the need to build a cohesive, united, just and fair Nigeria, the NWC resolved as follows:

“To zone the Presidency and the Senate Presidency to the North in 2019.

“To zone the Vice Presidency ticket to the South-East.

“The Speakership of the House of Representatives will go to either the South-South or South-West.”

The Chairman further said that in taking the decision, party leaders took into cognizance issues dominating the polity in the distribution of the key offices.

He stated that the zoning of the Vice President to the South East was meant to douse the current tension and allegation of injustice being made against the country by indigenes of the zone.

According to him, the ADP would focus on justice and fairness to every Nigerian.

In another development, the ADP also stated its resolve to organise a economic summit with a view to producing a workable economic blue-print for the revival of Nigeria’s economy.

The party announced in the statement thus: “As a party, we have taken into consideration the diversities of our Country and the need to build a cohesive Nation.

“The task before us is to retrieve Nigeria from the precipice and create an all-inclusive platform upon which any Nigerian can actualize his aspirations irrespective of ethnic and religious leanings. It is this consideration that informed our zoning arrangement to call on all Nigerians to join us in modifying the Nigeria of our dream.”
