2019: 4,000 delegates vote El-rufai

ABOUT 4,000 delegates converged at Murtala Muhammad Square Kaduna to affirm the candidate of Governor Nasir El-rufai as he seeks another mandate under his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

El-rufai is the only sole aspirant of the party in Kaduna chapter of the party.

It was gathered that delegates from 23 local government are expected to vote for the Governor.

Speaking in an interview, the State Chairman of the party, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada said 4,000 delegates are expected to vote for the Governor.

Jekada said the Governor was standing alone as no other candidate had indicated his interest to contest under the party.

‘So as part of the process delegates have to vote even though we have only the name of the Governor on the ballot. So that in future nobody will come and challenge us, he declared.

Speaking before the commencement of voting, the chairman of the APC governorship committee for Kaduna, Hon Mathew Iduoriyekemwen told delegates that the party is a democratic party as delegates are allowed to exercise their democratic rights.

The voting has been conducted he said was in tandem with the constitution of the party which stated that where one aspirant is contesting, members of the party.
