THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has announced its readiness for the July governorship election, saying the people of the state have seen more reasons to stick with the party rather than vote for any other party in the election.
Publicity Secretary of the party in the State, Mr Jackson Adebayo, who stated this in a telephone interview with Nigerian Tribune, also announced that the party was set for its primary election expected to hold May 8th for the selection of its candidate.
He said, “we are ready for the election, even though we are still working round the clock to sustain the support of the people of the state in the election.”
According to him, the party’s ward congresses have been scheduled, adding “our state congress is scheduled for May 8. The aspirants are currently going round the state, canvassing for votes of the delegates as well as the support of the electorate.”
Adebayo said “the people of the state is waiting for the PDP candidate because the people of the state have now seen and are convinced that the APC has nothing to offer them.
“The manner in which the party has been dishing out suffering to Nigerians has erased APC in the mind of Ekiti people. They have now seen that the PDP is the way to go, and we assure them of continued all-round development of Ekiti State.”
Adebayo charged the members of the party to “remain peaceful and go about their support for their aspirant of choice in peace, with the unity of the PDP as their main priority.”
