2017 pilgrimage must record zero absconders —NCPC

The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, Reverend Tor Uja, has said that the 2017 Christian pilgrimage must record zero absconders. He made the disclosure recently in Abuja while inaugurating members of the Security Sub-Committee for the 2017 pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece.

He stated that no Nigerian had a reason to intend to abscond as we are a great people in a great nation. He affirmed that Nigeria was a country where everyone has the chances of making it. He called on all agencies of government to give opportunities to Nigeria.

He tasked the security sub-committee to elevate the morale of the people and make them see beyond themselves. He further urged them to use every opportunity to present this nation.

The NCPC boss stated that he would want to see a reformation that would see a reorganisation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He stressed the need to give them training in discipline and orientation.

Uja further affirmed that the Nigerian Armed Forces had not sufficiently transferred their values and experiences. His words; “it is high time we transferred this values to the benefit of the people”. He further stated; “I will like this committee to see their role beyond physical security”.

Rev. Uja further advised the committee that its technique of coordination must go beyond physical force. He urged the committee to set a template for its operations. He, therefore affirmed that Christian pilgrimage was one of the highest points of  believers’ spiritual expression.

In his remarks, the chairman of the NCPC Security Sub-Committee for the 2017 pilgrimage, Major General Nienge (RTD) thanked the NCPC boss for the opportunity to serve the Commission and the nation.

According to him; “without security there is no development”. He stressed that the importance of the Security Sub-Committee cannot be over emphasized.

He further stated that he was delighted to have such high profile men and women in his committee.

He assured the NCPC boss that the 2017 pilgrimage exercise would be rewarding and fulfilling.

Members of the 2017 security sub-committee were drawn from the Military, Police, and Navy, Air force, DSS, FAAN, NDLEA, Immigration, NCDC and two Legal practitioners.
