Over 2,000 HR professionals, business leaders to discuss innovative workplaces, employees in Abuja

MORE than 2,000 delegates, comprising of accomplished business leaders and people management experts and chief executive officers of A-rated organisations, around the globe, have signified their intention to attend this year’s edition of the Chartered Institute of Personnel of Nigeria (CIPM) annual conference, scheduled to hold in Abuja, between the last week of October and early part of November, this year.

Tagged ‘Innovate, Empower, Engage,’ the institute’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Ajibola Ponnle, at a media briefing held at the institute’s head office in Lagos, on Monday, explained that the choice of the theme was informed by the need to have a creative and innovative workplaces and employees, within the nation’s working environment, in order to sustain the recovery of the nation’s economy and its exit from recession.

According to the CIPM boss, the annual national conference, which is in its 49th edition this year, would provide the opportunity for HR practitioners and non-practitioners to acquire new skills, update their knowledge, strengthen their network and co-create solutions to topical contemporary business challenges, especially in HR management.

This, she argued, the institute intends to achieve by providing participants with practical tools that can be used at organisational, national and international levels to develop and maintain sustainable human resource management practices and policies.

Ponnle argued that innovation had become vital for individuals and organisations to survive the increasingly competitive terrain.

She however lamented the huge innovation gap that businesses still grappled with in this part of the world; hence the theme of the conference.
