200 physically challenged youths, women in Ekiti get vocational, entrepreneurship training

About 200 women, youths who are living with disabilities in Ekiti State have been trained on a two-week vocational and entrepreneurship programs by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.

The trainees were also presented with cash support to enable them to open their own businesses and practice what they were taught.

The physically challenged were trained in various entrepreneurship skills with various topics taught in English and local languages.

These include the General concept of Entrepreneurship in Nigeria, Factors Affecting Entrepreneurship in Nigeria, Creativity and Business Opportunity Identification, Business formation and legal framework, customers Building and Management, Fund Management and Financial planning, sources of Finance for Small and Medium Scale Businesses and Basic Book-keeping and Records Management among others.

In his remarks, one of the representatives from the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports who monitored the programme Mr Mohammed Adamu tasked the participants to utilize the fund provided to them, to create further wealth and change their fortunes.

Mr Omilani Oludare who is also from the Ministry, challenge the participants not to see their conditions as limitations.

Mr Oludare advised them to take advantage of numerous intervention empowerment programmes of the Ministry to get themselves engaged.

The facilitator of the programme Adekola Segun Alexander in his comments, said Politicians in the State has in the past have been neglecting the disabled and physically challenged who sincerely needs the interventions, hence is thought of the programme.

He promises to continue to facilitate such programmes in the wider interest of Ekiti people and Nigerians in general.

In his remarks, the Managing Consultant of Amzik Integrated Nigeria Limited who implemented the two weeks programme thanked the Minister and Permanent Secretary of Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for considering the firm worthy of anchoring the programme.

He challenged the participant to utilize the knowledge gained and the financial empowerment provided judiciously.
