A 20-year-old suspected cultist, David Oyebade, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Metta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, over the alleged assault on a student and membership of a secret society.
Oyebade is facing a three-count charge but he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clara Olagbayi told the court that the accused committed the offences on Jan. 24, at 6.00a.m., at No. 6, Glover St., Ebute Meta.

Olagbayi said that the accused slapped and poked his finger into the eyes of Miss Shukurat Wahad when she was going to school,
He said that the accused was found with Indian hemp and some dangerous weapons when arrested.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the alleged offences contravene Sections 42, 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. O. Olagbende granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until Feb. 18 for mention.
