The two accused, namely Ridwan Akande (22) and Oluwagbotemi Oni (23) were arraigned on a 3-count charge, bothering on murder, unlawful possession of firearms and belonging to the secret cult group.
Presiding Magistrate Olubukola Awodele ordered that the duo be remanded in prison custody, considering the magnitude of the offences they allegedly committed.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye informed the court that two suspects and others at large committed the offence on the 5th of August, 2017, April 7 around 3.30 pm and 6.30 pm respectively at Old Garage and Oke-Onitea areas of Osogbo.
According to him, the defendants and others at large conspired among themselves to kill one Bintu Anifowose by shooting her with a gun for an undisclosed reason.
Oladoye hinted that the duo who were members of Aiye Confraternity were arrested by members of Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) with two locally made single barrel guns, seven cartridges and two expended cartridges, all of which they could not account for.

He stated, “the offence of murder contravened Sections 324, 316 and 319 (1), Laws of Osun State, 2003, while that unlawful possession of firearms and membership of secret cult contravened Section 27 (1) (b) of the Firearms Act, Cap F28, Laws of Federation of Nigeria and Section 64(a) (b), punishable under Section 516 of Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume 11, Laws of Osun State, 2003.
Though the accused were represented by their defence counsel, Barrister Abiodun Olaide, their pleas were not taken due to the gravity of the offences.
Magistrate Awodele directed that the case file be duplicated and forwarded to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, just as she adjourned July 6 for mentioning.
