TWO hotel employees, Mayowa Ogungbemi, and Tunde Alabi, on Tuesday, appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing six Plasma Television sets valued at N1.5 million.
Ogungbemi, 30, maintenance officer and Alabi, 30., housekeeper, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp. Ben Ekundayo, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on June 16, at 10 a.m. at Villa Picasso Hotel and Lodge, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ekundayo said the defendants stole six Samsung plasma TV sets, belonging to the Villa Picasso Hotel and Lodge.
“The management of the hotel noticed that six plasma TV sets were missing from the guest rooms during an inspection and the hotel driver claimed that he saw the two defendants carrying some TVs, ” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years imprisonment for stealing, while Section 411 prescribes two years imprisonment for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.M. Olumide-Fusika, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,00 each with one surety each in like sum and adjourned the case until Aug. 7.
