Two brothers, Kazeem (19) and Rilwan (21), who allegedly decided to make armed robbery a family business, have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said that the suspects were arrested last Thursday, December, 15 at Oluwole Fagbote Street, Ota after attacking their victim, one Imafidon Oluwafemi who was their neighbour, at about 5.00am.
Metro learnt that the victim of the suspects’ attack was sleeping in his house at No. 14 of the same street when the suspects broke into his apartment, covering their faces with masks, and attempted to rob the victim of his belongings.
They reportedly inflicted several machete cuts on their victim when he struggled with them, but he succeeded in unmasking one of them and recognised him as his neighbour’s son.
According to the PPRO, a distress call was made to the police, prompting the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Muiyeedeen Oba in charge of the area to lead a team of anti-robbery men to the scene where the two suspects were arrested.
Recovered from them were a cutlass and two masks, while the victim was rushed to the hospital and had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Ota.
Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu had directed the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Special Anti-Robbery section, Eleweran, Abeokuta for further investigation.
He also said that the police commissioner assured the residents of the state of adequate security before, during and after yuletide season as the Command would not leave any stone unturned to rid the state of crime and criminality.
