In an effort to navigate the economic challenges posed by recent changes in government policies, the 18th Western Zonal Accountants Conference is set to take place in Ibadan, Nigeria, from January 31 to February 3, 2024. Hosted by the district society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the conference aims to gather professionals from various economic sectors to discuss the theme, “Economic Resilience: Navigating the Bottlenecks.”
This annual conference, considered the second-largest gathering of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria, will bring together professionals such as Chartered Accountants, Accountants, Bankers, Tax Professionals, Insurance Experts, Captains of Industries, Policymakers, and more. The event will take place at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Event Centre, Ibadan.
The conference promises a lineup of four plenary sessions addressing national issues such as unlocking the potential of professional accountants in a volatile economy, accounting as a driving force for business sustainability, the relationship between accounting theory and practice, and navigating the challenges of accounting practice.
Participants can choose between physical and virtual attendance, with registration fees set at ₦40,000 for ICAN members, ₦45,000 for non-ICAN members, and ₦30,000 for virtual delegates and qualified young accountants.
Beyond the professional discussions, the conference offers networking opportunities for delegates to enhance their social capital. Attendees will also earn 16 MCPE credit hours if they are ICAN members.
A special attraction includes the 2nd Fame Quiz Competition among secondary schools in the Western Zone, a health talk on “My Health…My Wealth,” and a village meeting where the 59th President of ICAN, Dr. Innocent Iweka Okwuosa FCA, will engage with ICAN autonomous communities.
The conference will culminate in a Gala Night featuring live fuji music performed by the renowned Olori Omo Oba Akile Ijebu, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), providing a social and entertaining conclusion to the event.
