184,377 PVCs uncollected in Adamawa ― INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said there is about 184,377 uncollected Permanent Voter Cards in Adamawa.

Mr Kàsim Gaidam, state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner disclosed this during stakeholders’ meeting on the final preparation for the 2019 general elections held on Wednesday in Yola.

Gaidam said the aim of meeting was to reaffirm the commission’s commitment toward holding free,fair and credible elections.

“On PVCs collection , a total of 1,788,706 has been collected for the 2019 general elections out of the total registered voters of 1,973,083. subject to the final figures to be released by the Chairman of the a commission” Gaidam said.

He said INEC has provided a lot of opportunities to registrants to check and collect their particulars.

In his remarks, Mr Muhammed Mukaddas, state Commissioner of Police said the command was ready to tackle any civil security challenge.

Mukaddas said security operation were highly committed for peaceful conduct of the election and would display professionalism during the elections.

The commissioner advised the people of the state to consider that election was not do or die affairs but a sacrifice to the nation.

Mr. Bolade oluri, state Director DSS, said Adamawa was relatively peaceful except some areas of Madagali. Oluri assured the stakeholders that elections would be conducted in all designated areas of this state.

“Outside Madagali local government area , the security challenges are less and all security formations in the state have wonderful synergy to deliver free, fair and successful elections” Oluri said.

Our correspondent reports that amongst the participants in the meeting include representatives of political parties, security agencies, government and other private organisations.
