The Kwara State family court, on Thursday, has granted bail to an 18-year-old Michael Clement for allegedly raping a minor (name withheld), in Owu-Isin, Isin Local Government Area of the state.
The case was transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department from Owu-Isin Divisional Police Headquarters and eventually referred to Anti Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit, for discreet investigation.
Clement was dragged before magistrate Shade Lawal for the offence of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child contrary to section 31 of Kwara State Child’s right law.

Peter, reportedly asked the victim to help them prepare yam flour with the promise that they will buy the soya bean cake when she might have made the meal.
After she had finished cooking the meal, the police report disclosed that she took it to the room where to her dismay, met only Clement.
According to FIR, the defendant grabbed the victim and pushed her on the bed where he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
It was the landlord, one Mr Bakare, who reportedly rescued the victim, the police report disclosed.
The prosecutor, Adisa, in his submission, prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody.
He added that granting the defendant bail may not be healthy to the society, saying he might commit a similar offence.
Magistrate Lawal, in his ruling, granted the defendant bail while the case was adjourned to November 13, 2019.
