16 dead in lone accident on Enugu road

A lone accident has claimed the lives of sixteen travelers on the Enugu road.

This was announced by the Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, stating that a lone fatal motor accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. at Ekwegbe, along Enugu/Opi/Nsukka Road, resulting in the deaths of fourteen males and two females who were burned beyond recognition.

The accident involved an 18-seater white Toyota Hummer bus with registration number DAS 215 XA, reportedly driven at high speed, lost control, and plunged into the fence of Maduka University along the road.

The bus burst into flames, leaving sixteen individuals dead, while two other passengers were rescued alive after being confirmed dead by a hospital.
