Leading French shipping line, CMA CGM, on Friday announced a suspension of its hike in shipping charges earlier imposed on Nigerian-bound cargoes due to the 15% adjustment of Port & Marine Fees by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Recall that CMA CGM, in a statement sent to importers last week, had announced an increment in its charges, blaming the increment on the recent adjustment of Port & Marine Fees by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
However, in a swift reversal of the increment on Friday, the leading French shipping company revealed that it is suspending the recently implemented tariff adjustments and will revert to the previous charge structure until further notice.
The latest CMA CGM notice titled: “Update on Local Charges Due to Recent NPA Port & Marine Fee Adjustments,” which was sighted by the Nigerian Tribune, reads: “As review and engagement are ongoing with local authorities, we are suspending the recently implemented tariff adjustments.
“As a result, we will revert to the previous charge structure until further notice.
“We regret any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your understanding as we navigate through these changes.
