13 PDP gov aspirants sign undertaking in Plateau

THE 13 governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Plateau State, have signed an undertaking to abide by the outcome of the primary and work with whoever emerged after the primary.

It would be recalled the party organ on the Plateau under the leadership of Hon. Damishi Sango recent set up a five-man committee under the leadership of the former deputy senate president, Senator Ibrahim Mantu and Hon. Emmanuel Goar as the secretary to dialogue with the aspirants with aim of reducing their number and for the emergence of a consensus candidate.

Addressing newsmen on Tuesday shortly after the aspirants signed the undertaking, Senator Mantu said the aspirants recognized that the contest at the primary level is a family affair and recognized the need for fair play and the need to conduct themselves in a friendly manner.

“They all agreed that there would be no character assassination, the 13 of them equally agreed to support whoever emerged as the candidate of the party. They also collectively agreed that they would submit themselves to free and fair election,” he said.

Senator Mantu said there’s no greenhorn among the aspirants adding that all of them have the pedigrees and sound backgrounds to govern the state and expressed confidence that whoever emerged has what it takes to win 2019 governorship election in the state.

The former deputy Senate president who expressed optimism that PDP would win 2019 governorship election said APC led administration in the state has not lived up to expectation adding the administration was a huge disappointment to the electorates.

In a related development, Governor Simon Lalong has urged those seeking elective office to always remain focused on their commitment to better the lives of the people.

The Governor stated this today at a valedictory session for the members of the State Executive Council who had resigned to seek elective offices

He commended his political appointees for their contribution towards milestone achievements of the rescue administration.

Chief Rufus Bature outgoing SGS and Hon Hitler Dadi outgoing Commissioner, are aspiring for the Plateau North Senatorial seat and Langtang North/Langtang South House of Representatives, respectively.
