ABOUT 13 people have reportedly been killed in Tse Chia area of Benue State, in what appeared to be a reprisal  for last Tuesday’s attack on Zaki Biam area of the state.

The attack, which reportedly occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning, Sunday Tribune gathered, was carried out by suspected gunmen, who attacked  Tse Chia, in  Mbarstev ward near  Kasaa in Zaki Biam Local Government, leaving about 13 people dead.

The incident, which locals and police described as reprisals, following the killing of over 50 persons, was, however, said to have claimed only three lives according to the police.

The police added that four flats were burnt down.

A source Tse Chia, who spoke to Sunday Tribune on a condition of anonymity, said: “Around 1 a.m. on Friday, some gunmen entered our village and set ablaze four buildings, one of the buildings had a family of three, who were burnt to ashes.

“The gunmen stormed our  area and shot at sight killing about 10 persons and injuring several people. As I speak with you now, the village has been deserted,” the source added.

The police spokesman, ASP Moses Moses  Yamu confirmed the incident as a reprisal but said that only three persons were killed.
