According to the result of the screening pasted at the party’s’ secretariat in Yenagoa, out of the numbers cleared seventeen aspirants are said to be incumbent lawmakers while the remaining one hundred and five are vying for the ticket for the first time.
A report by the screening committee of the party made available to newsmen revealed that Southern Ijaw Local Government Area has the highest number of 37 aspirants, with sixteen from the constituency where the current speaker of the house presently represents.
It was gathered that five out of the seventeen incumbent lawmakers are vying for the third term into the house with claims that they were prevailed upon by their constituent to recontest.
Speaking to newsmen the Organising Secretary, Mr Luke Deomeru, said three aspirants failed to pass the screening and that details why the failure cannot be giving to the public unless the aspirants are aggrieved and appeal to the screening panel.
He also stated that the party is ready for the primaries, promising it would be free, fair and credible, adding that all the aspirants whether new or old will be giving a level playing ground to contest.
