1200 patients benefit from free eye medical treatment in Bauchi

A total of 1200 people drawn from Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau states are currently undergoing free medica treatment for all eyes related diseases at Makkah Eye Center in Bauchi.

The free medical eye treatment outreach is done by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia conjunction with the Albashar International Foundation collaborating with Bauchi state Government under its 8th Volunteer Medical Campaign for Opthalmology 2021 outreach in Nigeria.

During the one week outreach, patients suffering from all eyes related diseases will be attended to including surgery and issuance of free medicated eye glasses.

While on an on the spot assessment of the exercise on Thursday, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir commended the NGO for collaborating with the state government in offering the Humanitarian services for people of the state saying that it is a welcome development.

The Governor added that the beneficiaries were randomly selected during a previous tests conducted stressing that there are people from neighbouring Plateau and Gombe states who are benefitting because according to him it is a humanitarian service.

On the facility at Makkah Eye Center being used for the outreach, the Governor commended the management of the Center for making the facility available for the outreach assuring that government will continue to collaborate with the Center.

Bala Mohammed further said that, “We will work in synergy with the management of the Center to ensure that it is upgraded to a more standard center where every required treatment can be made without having to go elsewhere”.

The Governor added that his administration will always prioritize improved health care service delivery to the people of the state stressing that quality health care delivery cannot be over emphasized.

He then appealed to the Foundation to make the medical outreach a regular exercise because according to him one time cannot take care of the large number of people who are in need of such treatment in the state.
