12 killed in fresh crisis in Kaduna

CRISIS has erupted between the gbagi and the Hausa Fulani community in Kasuwar Magani village of Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state resulting in the death of twelve people, while several houses were set ablaze.

Findings gathered that the crisis emanated when a gbagi girl converted to Islam last week.

A reliable source told the Nigerian Tribune that the conversion of the girl did not go down with her people.

‘They assumed she was forcefully compelled to accept Islam, source declared.

However, another source remarked that she willingly accepted without any compulsion.

It was learnt that since her conversion last week, tension began to brew among the two communities who have lived together in harmony for over 100 years.

‘This morning (Monday) when we wake up some hoodlums started burning our houses and before you know what was happening there was pandemonium.

‘From where I was standing we have so far counted 12 corpses and conveyed several others to nearby hospitals, the source disclosed.

As at the time of filing this report, the police image maker, Muktar Husseini Aliyu could not be confirmed the number of those killed in the crisis.

Meanwhile, Governor, Malam Nasir of Kaduna state has directed the prosecution of all persons responsible for the Monday mayhem that occurred at Kasuwan Magani in Kajuru local government area.

The governor insisted that security agencies must investigate this unfortunate incident, arrest and make available for prosecution the perpetrators.
