THE Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), on Monday, hinted that a 10-kilometre Gana Ugberikoko Road in Sapele, Delta State is due for the inauguration.

NDDC Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr Charles Odili, made it known in a statement he issued and made available to journalists in Warri shortly after the project inspection.

According to the statement, the NDDC Executive Director Projects, Engr. Samuel Adjogbe led other top management staff to inspect the road project and consequently expressed satisfaction with the quality of work.

“From what I have seen, the quality of the job done is very good and acceptable.

“My engineers in the commission’s office in Warri, have done the evaluation and assessment, the job has been declared completed.

“That is the reason I have come to confirm so that we can sign off on the project,” Adjogbe said.

He explained that the 10-kilometre road was executed in four lots, with four different contractors working simultaneously to ease traffic.

Adjogbe assured that NDDC would continue to deliver on projects that would impact on the socio-, economic life of the people.

He noted that the commission was set up as an interventionist agency.

“NDDC is a regional agency, thus we understand the plight of the people of the Niger Delta so they should expect more from us,” he said.

Adjogbe thanked the community for cooperating with the contractors to ensure smooth completion of the project.

He, however, expressed dissatisfaction with the level of work on the Orhovwon access Road project in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area.

Adjogbe gave the contractor a seven-day ultimatum to install the NDDC signposts on the project site.

He averred that non-identification of NDDC projects had been a major challenge facing the commission.

“This is what development and intervention is all about, you identify a serious need in the lives of your people and intervene immediately,” he said.
