1 Bd Commander urges troops to maintain efforts as 12 bandits killed in Zamfara

The commanding officer of brigade Nigerian Army Gusau and sector 1 operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) has urged troops not to relent until normalcy is restored in the region, as 12 armed bandits were killed in Zamfara state.

The troops of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) have successfully recovered arms and ammunition during an encounter with armed bandits in some villages under the Maru local government area in Zamfara state.

In a statement issued today in Gusau by the information officer Operation Hadarin Daji, Lieutenant Suleiman Omale disclosed that the Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) has continued its offensive operations against violent extremists with a view to restoring normalcy in the region.

“In the early hours of Friday, April 12th, 2024, the troops successfully dominated Babban Doka, Gobirawar Challi, and Kabaro axis under Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, engaging the terrorists in a heavy gun duel.”.

“During the operation, our brave troops from Dansadau Forward Operating Base exhibited exceptional courage, overpowering the criminal elements and neutralising 12 terrorists, while others fled with gunshot wounds.”.

“In a subsequent mop-up patrol, the gallant troops recovered significant weapons and assets from the scene, including 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 magazine, 2 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 1 locally made gun, 1 Dane gun, and 18 cows. Additionally, 10 motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were recovered and destroyed on the spot.”

He said Brigadier General S. Ahmed, Commander 1 Brigade and Sector 1 OPHD, has commended the resilience, doggedness, and gallantry displayed by troops.

He urged them to maintain the momentum and not relent until normalcy is fully restored in the region.

Brigadier General S. Ahmed extended his appreciation to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), Major General G. M. Mutkut, for his tactical leadership and unwavering support to the troops in achieving their mandate.
