Problem with my tonsils

Published by

Good morning Doctor. First I will like to appreciate your good work on ASK THE DOCTOR@tribuneonlineng.com. God bless you sir. I have this recurrent problem by the side of my throat; some yellowish substance that smell really bad and gives me serious and embarrassing issue with bad breath. Even if I brush four times a day, it is still there. I cannot begin to recount how much of my self-confidence I have lost to this problem. I cannot interact normally and it is affecting me in every way. I have read a lot of things online about it and some people suggest tonsillectomy. I want to ask for your professional opinion and also like to know how much this operation will cost in Nigeria. Thank you sir and please keep me anonymous in case you share this.

Thank you for your letter and compliments. We always keep our clients anonymous therefore, you have nothing to worry about. Bad breath can be caused by many throat and mouth infections, including those from the teeth. That is why it is very important for you to be well examined by both a doctor and a dentist before taking the very important decision to have a tonsillectomy done.
