Foundation donates food items to widows, orphans in Ibadan

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Anointed Balm of Gilead Foundation, identified with widows, orphans, and the underprivileged at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Ayo, Ile Alagbede, Gege Olopa District headquarters in Ibadan on Sunday.

The foundation donated foodstuffs and clothes to beneficiaries. About 200 people who benefited from the gesture also enjoyed free medical check-ups.

Speaking, the founder of the foundation, Pastor Yetunde Adesope, said the significance of the program was a divine calling to help widows and the underprivileged in society. She said: “We all know what the economy is saying now, and it’s a divine call to come and put a smile on the faces of these people and believe they will never forget what we are doing for them today.

We started the program seven years ago, and it has been a wonderful experience, even though I’m not that buoyant, but with the help of other individuals, the ministry has been flourishing because this is a call that I love doing. God called me and said ‘you must take care of the needy’, the widow precisely, the less privileged with their children. Though there are a lot of challenges, God has been faithful.”

She urged the beneficiaries not to exchange what they have been given for money, especially clothes, just as she challenged them to engage themselves in vocational training to support their children.

In his remarks, the pastor of the church, Pastor Emmanuel Oludiran, lauded the foundation for the gesture, saying the items donated would go a long way in helping beneficiaries. He said: “We all know that this period is tough, but we advise the government to take proactive measures in food production so that the prices of foods can come down. We also want the price of fuel, which is increasing, to decrease the cost of transportation.
