Elderly individuals over 65 should exercise regularly, incorporating a mix of activities throughout the week to maintain health and independence. At least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week (e.g., 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week) OR 75 minutes of vigourous-intensity activity spread across the week, or an equivalent combination.
It is also important to undergo muscle-strengthening group. Activities that work all major muscle groups on at least two days a week. Activities to improve balance (e.g., standing on one foot, Tai chi) and flexibility should also be incorporated regularly, ideally on at least three days a week for balance.

Older adults should be physically active every day, even if it is just light activity, and should aim to reduce long periods of sitting. Before starting or significantly changing an exercise routine, it is important to speak with a healthcare provider, especially if you have not exercised for some time or have chronic health conditions.
The recommendations should be adapted to personal fitness levels and health conditions. Any activity is better than none. If you are new to exercise, start slowly and build up gradually to the recommended levels to prevent injury. A mix of endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility exercises provides the most comprehensive health benefits
