Though pressure has been mounted on him to aspire for the 2023 presidency under any political party of his choice, Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has expressed indication that he prefers to run for a second tenure as governor following his soliciting for continuous support for his PDP led administration by people of the state as they together move the state to greater heights and envy of others.
The governor made the appeal, on Monday, during the cultural day and turbaning ceremony of his daughter,
Dr. Hauwa Bala Mohammed, as the First Zinariya Sarauniyar Bauchi 1, at the state International Hajj camp.
An elated Bala Mohammed said that “We thank our leaders at all levels in the state and at the federation and of course our friends and all our associates, We thank Allah Subaha Wa Taala for giving us the opportunity to serve in Bauchi State after serving in various capacities at the federal level.”
The governor, however, declared that the occasion was not meant for politicking, but a very solemn and auspicious occasion for him to show his gratitude for the kind of tumultuous support and appreciation shown to him by all well-wishers across the country, most especially the people of Bauchi State.
He said that “So many people have contributed positively to this occasion by donations and giving contributions to me even though they know I am the governor and Allah has blessed me in all respect. They brought their chicken, they brought cash, they brought rams, they brought cows and some brought clothes and so on and so forth.”
“Today, what we have been given is so enormous that I use to wonder whether I really need all these but certainly the fact that I have been given all these gifts is an attestation of good Will and I will not take it for granted. I deeply appreciate on behalf of myself, the bride and the bridegroom and my extended family and all well-wishers,” he added.
The governor also said that the love shown to him by the people will embolden him to continue to serve with the fear of God.
Bala Mohammed stressed that “And of course, taking into consideration your wishes and your wants in life. We have done so much over the period but certainly, this kind of love and support that has been shown to us especially by our elders chaired by Jarman Bauchi is an attestation that we need to continue to associate and make sure that all differences are collapsed.”
The governor who thanked Traditional rulers, Ulamas and Clergymen for their continued prayers and support to his family urged them and all good people of Bauchi State and others present, to pray for the bride and the bridegroom, with the hope that Allah will bless the new couple with good offsprings that will be pride and pleasure of all people.
In her speech, the First Lady and mother of the bride, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed thanked the people of the state for the support and confidence reposed in her husband since he was elected as the governor of the state in 2019 saying that the support has been tremendous.
Aisha Bala Mohammed said that the ceremony which is in line with the Northern culture was aimed at appreciating all those in one way or another contributed to the success of the wedding fatiha which took place recently.
She also explained that she used her office as a titleholder of Bauchi Emirate to honour her daughter with a traditional title so that she can gradually begin to learn the culture and tradition of her people.
