Bauchi gov challenges traditional institutions to join hands with security agencies to fish out criminals

Traditional rulers in Bauchi State have been challenged to synergise with security agencies operating in the state as well as the state government in the fight against crimes and criminality in the state.

The challenge was thrown by Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, on Wednesday, when the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, led people of Bauchi Emirate on a traditional Sallah homage to the Governor at the Government House.

The Governor further charged the Emir to as a matter of fact collaborate with the security agencies in ensuring that Bauchi was rid of all vices, crimes and criminality for peaceful coexistence in the state.

The Governor further urged the Emir and his entire council to caution their subjects to shun acts that will be detrimental to the peaceful coexistence in the state stressing that, ” I am calling on you as a father in Bauchi State to please lend your voice to all in the position of authority so that there will be effective security network for a peaceful coexistence.”

Bala Mohammed further said that “All these things happening that is not pleasing like rape, robbery, indiscipline should be corrected for us to live in a safe environment. We thank you and your traditional rulers, imams and pastors for your wise counsel and prayers which has made it possible for us to live in a secure environment in the state. We will continue to ensure that we assist the security agencies in order to stay in a safe and secure state.”

He appreciated the Emir for his kind words on his achievements since the assumption of office and promised to ensure that the traditional institution will be protected and accorded the privileges it deserves.

He also thanked the Emir for the visit and said that his administration is not unaware of the hardship faced by the majority of the populace adding that he is doing everything possible to ensure that the citizens of Bauchi State are taken care of.

The Governor further said that his government will not prioritise the construction of roads or building of hospitals over the welfare of its citizens which is why they have paid July salaries in advance for the people to enjoy the Sallah festivities promising the Emir that his government will ensure that farmers in the state are provided with fertiliser for the farming season.

Bala Mohammed also thanked the Emir and other traditional rulers in the state for championing peaceful coexistence among their subjects and reiterated his administration’s determination to continue to support security agencies in various ways in order to ensure sustainable peace.

He however urged the Emir and other traditional leaders to caution their subjects against acts that are capable of jeopardizing the current peaceful coexistence in the state.

According to him, crimes and social vices such as Banditry, kidnappings rape, robbery, indiscipline, among others should be discouraged to pave way for a more peaceful and secure society.

Bala Mohammed who maintained that the welfare of Bauchi state citizens is paramount to his administration noted that the government under his watch is working tirelessly to sanitise the state’s payroll.

In his remarks earlier on, the Emir appreciated the Governor for his giant strides in changing the face of the state saying that the council was there to pay Sallah homage to the Governor as is the tradition.

The Emir assured the Governor that the traditional institution will continue to support his administration in order to succeed and commended him for maintaining peace in the state.

He said that “Your Excellency, we are here today to pay Sallah homage to you. Just, as usual, this kind of occasion used to give us the opportunity to thank you for all the developmental plans you have for the state”, he said.

The Emir who lauded the Governor for executing meaningful projects that have a direct bearing in the lives of the citizens thanked him for equally assisting victims of different market fire disasters that occurred in the past.

According to him, the gesture has seen many victims of different disasters who could have remained helpless, bounced back on their feet.

The Emir while commending religious leaders and their followers for constant prayers, noted that the prayers have helped in keeping the state peaceful and secured, urging that the move be sustained.
