Akeredolu approves Deji of Akure as chairman, Ondo council of Obas

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Tuesday, approved the appointment of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi as the chairman, Ondo State Council of Obas.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS) Mr Richard Olatunde, who said the monarch’s appointment follows the expiration of the two-year single tenure of the immediate past chairman of the council, Oba (Dr.) Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan, Olugbo of Ugbo, was appointed on the 13th of September 2019.

According to the statement, the tenure of the new chairman starts on14th September 2021.

The statement read: “Governor Akeredolu appreciates the council under the leadership of the erstwhile chairman, the Olugbo of Ugbo, who did excellently well and gave all necessary support to ensure that the good people of Ondo State enjoy good governance.

“The governor urges the new chairman to improve on the record of his predecessor by working in harmony with his brother Obas and the government in ensuring the development of the state.”

Meanwhile, the new Chairman of Ondo State Council of Obas, the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo, has assured the state government of his commitment towards reinvigorating the traditional institutions in the state.

The Deji of Akure in a statement by his CPS, Mr Micheal Adeyeye, said he received the news of his appointment as the Chairman of Ondo State Council of Obas with utmost joy and all sense of humility.

Oba Aladetoyinbo appreciated the governor, for the appointment and said “most importantly at a time when there should be more synergy and collaboration between the Government and the Traditional Institutions in the area of security and overall development of the State.

“As the new Chairman of the Council of Obas, Oba Aladetoyinbo shall be fully committed to reinvigorating the Traditional Institutions towards making it more responsive to the yearnings of our people, who are eagerly looking forward to the Traditional Rulers to practically proffer solutions to the amalgams of challenges facing our dear Nation and State”

Oba Aladetoyinbo commended the immediate past Chairman of the Council, Oba Akinrutan, for providing quality leadership for the council while he holds the fort, while he thanked all the traditional rulers in the state and solicited their continued support for him as the Chairman of the Council.

The statement read, “Oba Aladetoyinbo sincerely appreciate everyone for their good wishes, messages and prayers since the news broke out. His Majesty looks forward to a more united, virile and strong council under his leadership.”
