The Zamfara State government has sacked the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Chika and the district head of Kanoma, Alhaji Ahmed Kanoma following their alleged involvement in banditry activities in the state.
It will be recalled that the two traditional rulers were suspended for their alleged participation in banditry activities in their respective domains.
An investogative panel headed by former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar, was set up by the state government to investigate the allegations levelled against them.
Sunday Tribune learnt that the committee’s investigation indicted the traditional rulers and they were suspended.
It was revealed that the second class emir of Maru and district head of Kanoma were relieved of their positions on Saturday following the outcome of the investigation that found them guilty of the crime.
In a statement by the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Mahadi Aliyu, the two traditional rulers were found wanting.
According to him, the state government decided to remove the traditional holders to serve as a deterrent to other traditional rulers in the state.
