Zamfara 10-year devt plan, roadmap for productive future — Gov Lawal

Published by

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara state has said the ten-year development plan (2025-2034) is a roadmap for a peace model and productive future.

He made the assertion on Friday, during the launch of the ‘Zamfara State Development Plan 2025-2034’.

The governor remarked that the ten-year plan is “a bold roadmap that will chart a new course for the future of our state.”

“This is a long-term, evidence-driven and globally aligned roadmap that reflects the aspirations of our people and the collective determination to transform our State into a model of peace, productivity, and shared prosperity,” he added.

He said on assumption of office in May 2023, he met a state that many described as dysfunctional, saying, “Yet, we resolved from day one that Zamfara would not be defined by its challenges – but by the determination to rebuild, reform, and rebound.

“This development plan is the embodiment of that resolve. It is the first comprehensive long-term plan in our State’s recent history that is built on robust data, wide stakeholder engagement, and alignment with national and global development frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Nigeria’s National Development Plan 2050, and the African Union Agenda 2063.

“It sets clear sectoral priorities, measurable outcomes, and a monitoring and evaluation framework that ensures transparency at every stage of implementation.

“In this state development plan, we envision Zamfara becoming a benchmark for transformative economic growth– not merely for Nigeria, but the continent of Africa.

“We will harness our abundant resources, leverage innovation and technology, and embed efficient governance to foster inclusive growth, stability, and opportunity for every citizen.

“The plan rests on six strategic pillars: Economy; Infrastructural Development; Social Welfare & Development; Human Capital; Governance, Administration & Capacity Development; as well as Environmental Sustainability.

“Through partnerships like the recently signed agreement with the Federal Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoFI), and facility from the African Development Bank, we intend to drive large-scale transformation in mechanised farming, agro-processing and value-chain development.

“It is my honour, responsibility and privilege to launch the Zamfara State Development Plan 2025- 2034 for our today and for our tomorrow. May Allah bless Zamfara State and our people.”
