The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has stated that his administration has repositioned the state’s healthcare delivery system to provide support and care for the people of Edo.
Obaseki made this remark on Tuesday in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, during the launch of the Edo Emergency Medical Services (Edo EMS) in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Emergency Response Africa.
He emphasized that the training of Medical Emergency Responders is aimed at offering support services to the healthcare sector in the state. He added that this achievement is a clear testimony to his administration’s dedication and commitment to saving lives.
The governor commended the partners in the Edo EMS initiative, stressing the urgent need to decentralize the nation’s healthcare delivery system to ensure the Primary Health Care (PHC) system functions effectively.
Obaseki pointed out that quality healthcare is expensive and emphasized the need for the Emergency Response initiative to be sustained in the state.

He added that promoting quality healthcare services is dear to the heart of the Edo government and assured that “this service we are launching today can and will be sustained.”
The governor pledged the government’s support to promoting excellence in healthcare delivery in Edo and expressed optimism that the Edo State Government is proud to be a critical partner in saving lives.
