THE Trade Union Congress (TUC) vowed on Tuesday that the on-going picketing of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), will continue indefinitely until their demands are met.
To this end, the Congress has written the Inspector General of Police through the FCT Commissioner of Police and called for the immediate investigation of the use of thugs by the management of TNC to attack workers and their members who were protesting peacefully at the TCN office on Monday.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday over the prolonged industrial dispute with the management of the company; the President of TUC, Comrade Bobboi Kaigama, stated that despite attack on his members, the TUC will continue to picketing the TCN.
While describing as primitive the action of the Managing Director of TCN to hired thugs to attack workers who are on a peaceful protest/picketing on Monday; he pointed out that it was within the right of workers to picket employer in the case of an unresolved dispute.

According to him, the demands of the workers are that the existing conditions of service be maintained, to investigate the monumental corruption going on in TCN under the watch of the MD, to stop harassment and intimidation of the union members and to release promotion to all the deserving workers; rather than to only those who are loyal to the MD.
The TUC President said: “We are insisting that the picketing of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) must continue until our demands are met. The MD of TCN is behaving as if he is even bigger than the President that appointed him.
“We also want an urgent investigation into the attacked on our members by suspected thugs at the premises of TCN. What we were doing is legal why should a sane human being hired thugs against a peaceful worker.
“The monumental corruption in the company is alarming, and we want an investigation into the finances of the company under the MD.”
Comrade Kaigama said the union had already written the Inspector General of Police, through the FCT Commissioner of Police with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
He said the MD of TCN should be held responsible, should anything sinister happened to any of the members of the union.
