Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has assured that his administration will continue to promote investor-friendly environment as one of the major ways to ensure the sustainable development of the state.
Akeredolu stated this, on Thursday, during the inauguration of a unique mega filling station, Northwest Petroleum, said the state government will always be willing to cooperate with private investors to improve the economy of the state.
The governor who noted that the establishment of the newly inaugurated mega filling station will help to take unemployed graduates from the streets, promote economic growth and reduce poverty.
He called on other private investors not to hesitate to visit and establish their businesses in the state, saying Ondo remains one of the peaceful states in the country.
He noted that any state or community can witness development in an atmosphere where peace exists, saying we now enjoy peace atmosphere in our state.
He said: “We thank you for this project as it will help to take about 50 graduates out of unemployment.
“We thank you for believing in us and to join hands with us to improve the economy of the state. This investment will surely positively improve the economy of the state.
“Ondo State remains one of the most peaceful states in the state and the state government will always be ready to encourage the private investors. This is the beginning of a new relationship between the state and North-West”
Speaking, the Managing Director of Northwest Petroleum, Mrs Winifred Akpani, commended the efforts of the present administration in the state for encouraging economic development in the state.
Akpani said: “It was the friendly environment for investment that attracted North West Oil and Gas to the state. With the support we have so far, I have the rest of mind that we are going to have a great impact on the community and contribute to the state economy.
She said: “With this investment, we have been able to create jobs for 50 fresh graduates. We can only say thank you to the people of the state, especially the governor for the encouragement.”
She called on the Federal Government to encourage and support Nigerians to build and promote the nation’s economy in order to join hands with private investors to contribute to the nation’s economic stability.
Speaking, the contractor who handled the project, Chairman /Managing Director of Step Development Limited, Engr. Aderemi Oseni, said the North-West Petroleum has blazed the trail in the state with the newly introduced high tech nozzles which can dispense 40 litres of fuel in minutes.
Oseni said Northwest Petroleum has shown determination to do business, taking advantage of the healthy economic climate in the state.
He said: “This project is unique because of the location and we got all the necessary support from the people around here, the people of the community are very hospitable and excited over the project. As a company, all the professional procedures for jobs of this nature were well observed.”
