We deployed policemen to APC secretariat to maintain peace ― IGP

The Police High Command on Tuesday said that the personnel deployed to the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja were sent to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.

The police denied it took over the secretariat as reported in the media.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Frank Mba, a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).

According to the statement, “the deployment is a proactive move by the Force to maintain peace and ensure there is no breakdown of law and order at the secretariat.

“The presence of police personnel at the secretariat is not to seal-up the complex as has been reported in some quarters but rather to prevent any untoward situation within and around the APC national secretariat.”

It, therefore, urged the members of the party, as well as the staff of the secretariat, are to conduct their legitimate businesses as always without any fear.
