Warri LG chairman urges communities to comply with anti ‘deve’ law

Published by

Following Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s recent assent to the Delta State Public and Private Properties’ Protection Bill 2018,” otherwise called anti-“deve” law into law, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, has admonished community leaders in the local government to ensure compliance.

The bill was assented to by Dr Okowa to outlaw illegal and forceful incursion into project and development sites in Delta State.

Tidi, in a terse statement, expressed delight at the passage of the law by the State House of Assembly and its swift assent by Governor Okowa.

He noted that the implementation of the law, through the cooperation of community leaders, would attract foreign and local investments to the state.

This law is to curb the activities of idle youths of various communities in the state who invade and disrupt ongoing development projects by contractors until they are given financial inducement.
